A dedicated camping toilet paper holder keeps your roll clean, dry, and easy to use. Learn what to look for and why the DOD Outdoors model is a smart choice.
Quick answer
A dedicated camping toilet paper holder protects your roll from moisture, dirt, and wind, making outdoor bathroom breaks far more comfortable. The DOD Outdoors Toilet Paper Holder is a compact, well-designed option that keeps paper shielded and easy to dispense.
Why a dedicated holder beats a loose roll
A loose roll of toilet paper in your camp gear gets crushed, damp, or dirty fast. A holder with a protective cover keeps it clean and dry, even when stored in a backpack or hung from a tree. It also prevents the roll from unspooling in the wind, saving you frustration and waste.
Trade-offs to consider
A holder adds a small amount of weight and bulk to your pack. If you are an ultralight backpacker, you might prefer to carry just a few sheets in a zip bag. For car camping, family trips, or festivals, the convenience and hygiene of a dedicated holder are worth the extra ounces.
Also, not all holders work with every roll size. Standard RV or household rolls fit most, but jumbo or boutique rolls may not. Check the interior diameter and depth before buying.
How to choose a camping toilet paper holder
- Material and weather protection: Look for a holder with a waterproof or water-resistant cover. Polyester or nylon shells handle rain and dew well. Avoid mesh or open designs that let moisture in.
- Dispensing mechanism: A core rod or friction-free spindle lets you pull paper smoothly without the roll spinning loose. This is especially important as the roll gets smaller.
- Attachment and portability: Choose a holder with a strap, clip, or loop so you can hang it from a tree, tent pole, or hook. Adjustable straps add flexibility for different campsite setups. If you camp in multiple locations, a holder with an adjustable strap is the most versatile choice.
Product facts
- Toilet Paper Holder: Protective thick polyester cover and a core rod that ensures smooth paper withdrawal even as the roll diminishes. The cover keeps your toilet paper dry and clean, while the core rod prevents tearing or jamming when the roll gets low.
